“… and the Cherubino of Molly Fillmore
was most charming”

The 2017-2018 season included Molly Fillmore's professional debut as a stage director (and role debut as Micaela) for Central Florida Lyric Opera's production of Carmen.  This marked her fourth role in that operahaving sung the title role, Mercedes, and chorus in previous productions both in the United States and abroad. Additionally, Fillmore was the soprano soloist in Verdi's Requiem  with the UNT Symphony Orchestra, a piece for which she has also sung the mezzo part several times.  She gave three different recitals in the month of September, including a Shakespeare tribute recital with pianist Stephen Dubberly, a recital and master class at Iowa State University with pianist Jodi Goble, and the debut recital of a new trio, Ceciliane, which she founded with violist Daphne Gerling and pianist Elvia Puccinelli.  Fillmore also appeared in concert as the soprano soloist for Vivaldi's Gloria in D and Magnificat, as well as the Dona nobis pacem of Ralph Vaughan Williams. Fillmore  

wrote poetry which was set by composer Juliana Hall in 2017;  the world premiere of this song cycle (Cameos) will take place in October 2018, with pianist Elvia Puccinelli.  

Activities in the 2016-2017 season included her role debut the title role in Turandot opposite the Calaf of Arnold Rawls.  Molly Fillmore and pianist Elvia Puccinelli presented a recital of songs with texts by Emily Dickinson in a recital organized by the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts.  Further recitals and concerts included a chamber music recital featuring the music of J. S. Bach and Paul Hindemith, a recital celebrating the words of poet Langston Hughes (including a world premiere by composer John Stone, and a performance as the alto soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony

The first half of 2016 saw a role debut in the title role of Tosca for Central Florida Lyric Opera as well as a return to the Metropolitan Opera to cover the role of Chrysotemis in Elektra.  Additional performances included Les Noces at University of North Texas, an opera gala with the Abilene Philharmonic, a master class and recital at University of Nebraska-Omaha, and a recital with flutist Terri Sundberg and pianist Elvia Puccinelli.
